(staff photo by Matt Roth)..The previous owner of the 1970 BMW R60/5, Fred Tausch, wanted to see which would last longer, him or the bike. In 2007, the 70-year-old Massachusetts man died leaving behind an ugly, but functioning motorcycle with 640,000 miles on it. BMW offered to buy it from Tausch's family and completely restore it, but they declined the offer. A restoration would go against Fred's wishes for his thirty-year-long experiment. Bob Henig would later purchase the bike from the family. It is now one of the hallmarks of Bob's Vintage BMW Museum.
