Annaopolis, Maryland - April 22, 2023: In an attempt to find a playmate for their Guinea Pig, Reeces Puff, Xavier Lang, left, and Joy McGowan, right, drove from from Newport News, VA — a 3 to 3.5 hour drive — to Paws at the Mall, the SPCA of Anne Arundel County’s store inside the Westfield Annapolis Mall in Maryland Saturday April 22, 2023. “There’s nothing like this close to where we live,” says McGowan. The couple were able to see if Reeces Puff was able to pair with a rescued male. Unfortunately Reeses Puff was too aggressive with the male rescues available.


Malls faced with empty retail spaces are offering local animal shelters premium storefronts for little or no cost to create consumer friendly adoption boutiques giving rats and other shelter animals a better chance at finding a new home.
