Washington, D.C. - March 07, 2016: Bruce Nesslagh, 56, from Elkridge, Md., passes another commuter while riding a Capital Bikeshare bicycle on Pennsylvania Ave. in Washington D.C. Monday March 7, 2016. He normally takes the MARC train to Union Station in Washington D.C., then takes a Capital Bikeshare bicycle to work "unless the weather's bad."
Data from the Federal Highway Administration and the University of Michigan’s Transportation Research Institute show that the rate of licenses for 60-64 year olds fell from 95.9 percent in 2008, to 92.1percent in 2014. The decrease in drivers point to people's desire to save money and use public transportation, like Public bikeshare programs.
