WHY DOES THIS PICTURE HAVE SUCH A LONG CAPTION!?!?! …you'll never know unless you read it.
First of all, The customs fee to enter Molossia is …your pocket change. Cute, right? So, why is there a Big K diet soda can in the customs cup? Well, first of all, The President can do whatever he wants …and he put it there. He thought to himself during our tour,"Where am I gonna put this thing so it doesn't blow away?" Molossia IS super windy.
But a can of Diet Soda has special significance in Molossia, too. From the Molossia.org website "The basic unit of volume, the Simms, is based on a standard can of Diet Pepsi, a staple drink in our nation."
Molossians use the Kokintz System of measurement. which "is designed to simplify measurements in our nation, using simple and familiar bases."
The system is named for Professor Kokintz of Grand Fenwick the scientist from the Cold War satirical book series and Peter Sellers movie "The Mouse That Roared," which is the seminal inspiration for Baugh to start his own nation. "Moon Over Parador" is a big influence for Baugh, too. The Simms is named after Parador's President, Alphonse Simms.
...but Big K Cola? Sigh. Molossia, like the U.S., is enduring budget cuts, too.
