Kitsch and self defacement is part of the air guitar culture, celebrating the "dorks" who never learned to play their own instruments. Ettenger, 23, from College Park, sparked the audience's fire, but the judges felt his technique needed work. He did not advance to the second round of the U.S. Air Guitar Regional Championships at the 9:30 Club in Washington D.C. Friday, May 29, 2009. The national championships will return to the 9:30 Club August 7th.
