Rockville, Maryland - March 02, 2019: Sara Caldicott plays for the Montgomery Youth Hockey Association 8 and Under program in Rockville, Md.

The total number of female hockey players ages 18 and under has increased 37% in the last decade while the number of male hockey players has increased only 15%, according to USA Hockey. Female coaches have also climbed 41 percent and the number of female officials has jumped 11 percent. At the same time, figure skating clubs say they are losing girls.
