Barondes participated in a Veteran's Day trip to DC with fellow Howard County Hospital volunteers, visiting the WW II Memorial, and the National Museum of Art, where they also lunched.

Because the 40 plus wooden bat softball league is private, and their games are held at the VFW in Ellicott City, beer drinking is allowed, they don't have to dance around alcohol rules instilled by government parks....Sluggers have to be over 40 years old to participate in The Wooden Bat Softball League held at the VFW in Ellicott City. Its a beer drinking league so, before, during and after the games, tops are popped, and plastic cups are filled up and subsequently drained with the good cheap stuff, most of which is   of the light brew. The first of two games Wednesday June 28, 2006 was the Judge's Bench against Crab Shanty, both teams named after local Howard County businesses. Crab Shanty, the oldest team in the 16 year-long league, took a quick lead early on, but was eventually halted by Judge's Bench finishing the game off with an 8-2 score.

The Golden Bears have won 3 games in the last three years. He is also pursuing his teaching certificate and hopes to enter the Howard County school system in 2010.

He's been a fair constant for most of his life. Travis, the pitching brother, led the league with 70 strike outs in 49 innings last season and batted .467, the second best in the county. Both brothers hit six home runs last year, tying for second in the county. Some consider the Golden Bears to be the Howard County baseball team to beat for 2009. The cows are packed tightly to prevent falling during location transportation. The amount of 4-H show animals decreased the further the moon rose over the Howard County Fairgrounds on the its closing night August 12, 2006.

Despite the fact that some of them complain about the price -- $4.00 for Columbia Association Members and $7.00 for non CA members -- patrons still take advantage of the facilities. ...On his first day back in his inline skates, Dan Dengler, 20 from Elkridge, can still land a front flip even after a three year hibernation. He found them a few days ago and decided to take them out for a spin at the Columbia Skate Park Saturday July 29, 2006.
