• To become the top swimmer in the world Michael Phelps had to make sacrifices. An undeveloped social life left the Olympian somewhat one-dimensional. After Beijing, Phelps was encouraged to decompress and explore the life of a normal twenty-something. After photos emerged of Phelps smoking marijuana at a private party in South Carolina, he endured the kind of public scorn felt by very few 23-year-olds. A newfound interest in golf and business investments are adding to Phelps's life experiences, but the most important thing for him right now is to train for London in 2012..

 • Annapolis, Maryland - June 05, 2016: A rainbow is reflected in a puddle on Dock Street -- an example of nuisance flooding -- in Historic Annapolis, Md., Sunday June 5th, 2016. Annapolis is one of the most prone cities in the U.S. to nuisance flooding.

A perigean spring tide brings nuisance flooding to Annapolis, Md. These phenomena -- colloquially know as a "King Tides" -- happen three to four times a year and create the highest tides for coastal areas, except when storms aren't a factor. Annapolis is extremely susceptible to nuisance flooding anyway, but the amount of nuisance flooding has skyrocketed in the last ten years. Scientists point to climate change for this uptick.

Mr. Roffman, his partner and their son live in this extravagant home thanks in part to being the target of Donald Trump's ire. In 1990 Donald Trump forced the Janney Montgomery Scott brokerage house in Philadelphia to fire Mr. Roffman, one of their brightest gaming analysts. Mr. Roffman predicted that Trump's yet-to-be-opened Taj Mahal Casino Resort would break records when it opened in the summer, but ultimately fail, saying in the winter "Atlantic City is an ugly and dreary kind of place."

Trump ultimately filed a lawsuit and lost. After a year, Roffman's predictions came true.

Roffman, who couldn't find work as an analyst, countersued his former employer and Trump, winning an undisclosed settlement amount from the current presidential candidate.
Smith Island, Maryland
Assignment ID: 30058840A

Jason Tyler, who lives in Holyoke, Mass. with his wife Ashley, was raised on Smith Island, Maryland. The couple take the hour-long ferry ride Friday March 21, 2008, from Chrisfield, Maryland, to Smith Island to spend Easter weekend with Jason's family aboard Captain Jason I, the boat his father named for him. Tyler is reflected in a mirror in the ferry's hull. Times have changed. Jason, like many from the small waterman community, have left. His father sold the ferrying business to two brothers, Larry and Terry, and the decreasing watermen community, like the increasingly anaerobic waters they fish, are choked by regulations. Their economy is tanking, so in an effort to help boost the area's diminishing economy the Maryland State Legislature is considering naming the multi-layered Smith Island Cake the State Desert.
