Don Lipstein sits under the weeping willow he affectionately called "his tree" at Bellevue State Park in Wilmington , Delaware on Friday, May 03, 2013. He would take his son Joshua to the park to play and fish as a child. As an adult his son joined the Navy, saw combat as a member of the Riverines. Before reenlisting a tumor was found, which caused hearing loss. After surgery he developed an addiction to pain killers, which combined a desk job he hated, and separation from his wife and newborn, led to suicide. Don, who turned 54 on the day the photos were made, now works with Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors "T.A.P.S." as a peer mentor coordinator for the suicide postvention program.

 • June 26, 2007...Dad mentioned we were going out to Wyoming to visit his friend Henry. That's cool. I'm down with whatever. What he failed to mention was the "camping on a mountain" part. Apparently, he didn't tell the other members of his family. So, here we are, packing Dad's wife Michelle's Yukon for a camping trip I wasn't expecting to go on. Dad and Michelle's eldest middle kid, Brandon, apparently, holds the affection of several young little ladies. So, before we leave, he thumbs a few more txt messages to his ladies. We stayed at my Uncle Blaine and his wife Ronda's house for the night. They gather on the driveway to see us off...Chris is Dad and Michelle's eldest son. I tell you, its strange seeing him as a 16-year-old when I remember him as a fat blob who couldn't even sit up. All their kids are pretty cool.

Dr. Kimberly Burroughs is a dentist living in Gambrills, Maryland. In 1997, her dad, John Burroughs, from Sunderland, Maryland, bought a 1959 Corvette and she helped him restore it. He always said, "someday this car will be yours!" But that never happened. Her dad still owns it. In 2015, she came across a 1962 Corvette that had been completely taken apart and all the parts had been sitting in boxes in a garage since the 1970s. She bought it for super cheap and it took her a little over a year to rebuild this Corvette and get it painted. In 2017, it won a Top Flight award -- scoring a 96.4% -- from the National Corvette Restorers Society.
• June 26, 2007...I rarely get to see my dad -- more or less, his side of the family. So, I met up with the Roths for a family reunion of sorts for the pre-4th of July weekend. I hadn't seen my Grandpa Roth in a while, and aparently, he's not doing to well. Neither is his wife, Wendy. They have a son, Josh, who just graduated from High School. its kinda weird having a half-uncle ten years younger than me. ..I also saw my cousin Sean, who's a year younger than me. The last time I saw him was something like 14-16 years ago. I was a dorky, chubby, kid, and he was a bad-ass trouble maker, but all in all, really cool to me..He was a pretty influential character in my teenage development. I was never as "cool" as he was. Unfortunately, his teen years were cut short. Obviously, he didn't die, but when he was 15, a severe car accident put him in a coma. He suffered some brain damage, and he's wearing a brace on his leg. I was really nervous when I heard I'd be seeing him. Luckily, his condition wasn't as bad as I expected. He remembered me, we talked a bunch. It doesn't seem like he's changed that much -- just slowed down. ..I saw my Aunt Heidi, too. Both her and my dad don't look their age -- which excites me. Dad's in his 50's and not a grey hair on his full blonde head. My Granpa Roth, at 73, is starting to go Grey. But he's got all his hair. I guess I have some good genes.
