After dressing his children and eating breakfast, It will take him an hour to drive around northern Carroll County, Maryland to drop Rory and Miles off to two separate schools before he literally sprints up a hill to take his exercise science exam at McDaniel College.. .Ron Shriver is a retired marine staff sergeant. He is also the first in his family to attend college, thanks to the New G.I. Bill. His wife, a fellow retired Marine, is finishing up graduate school in Alaska. After Ron gets his undergraduate degree from McDaniel College in May, he plans to drive to Alaska with is two children Rory, 6, and Miles, 5. For the move Ron got rid of most of his family's belongings, and after his lease was up, he and his children moved back into his parent's farmhouse..

City Springs School first grader Jahmal Harrison, gets a hug from his mother Tameka Harrison, in the school's hallway after his after school tutoring classes have ended Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Tameka, who can't work because of an injury, frequently volunteers at the school where poverty is the norm. Ninety-six percent of the student body qualifies for free lunches. Tameka and Jahmal used to live in one of the close by housing projects, but have been homeless for the last two months. They're currently staying at Sarah's Hope Shelter in West Baltimore.

The movie is a short about a fight between "sneakerheads" who are waiting in line for the "drop" of a pair of new shoes. Grizz Chapman (CQ), from 30 Rock, is also in the short. He and his son help cook at the Eddie Adams Workshop. Meeting him was pretty great! I was shooting him with my 17-55mm and he was totally jockin' me about my zoom. He was talking up the Nikon 50 f/1.4 -- which I have -- and so, I decided to take that lens out of my bag and snap it on my camera for a spin. So, everything after this photo are shot with the 50mm. He was right, that lens is awesome...I gave a print of this photo to Al's son Jerry, and he started crying and gave me a huge hug. Those two bicker like the Jersey boys they are, but there's so much love between the two of them...The Eddie Adams Workshop in Jeffersonville Saturday, October 7, 2006.

The Truancy Court Program, led by Baltimore City Juvenile Court Master Kristen Peacock, Truancy Court Program Coordinator Seth Okin, and the school's attendance monitor, Diane Robinson, advises students and their parents who are on track to becoming truants on ways to prevent absenteeism. While children and parents wait for their individual meetings, they have a group session with Jana White, one of the program's coordinators and mentors. According to the school's principal, Dr. Judith Thomas, says the school has increased attendance 14% since last year.
