Smith Island, Maryland
Assignment ID: 30058840A

Jack Romesburg a salesman from Somerset, Pennsylvania, takes his chocolate lab Coco out for a stroll and rides his beach comber past Smith Island's Union United Methodist Church. Romesburg is a seasonal resident, who owns a home with his wife, but admits his parents inhabit the bayside home more often than they do. The residential population of Smith Island is shifting. The declining economy along the Eastern shore has caused families to move, but their houses have stayed.
In an effort to help boost the diminishing economy along the Chesapeake Bay, the Maryland State Legislature is considering naming the multi-layered Smith Island Cake the State Desert.

 • Anaheim , California - April 11, 2015: King Adam, 19, stands for a portrait during #MicroCon2015's #Cotillion at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Anaheim, Saturday April 11, 2015. His royal highness has been a micronationalist for 6 years. He presides over the Kingdom of Überstadt, which is in Mountlake Terrace, CA. The original territory was an uninhabited island near his home, named Ballinger -- after the lake surrounding it. Unfortunately, A BBQ fire (unrelated to Überstadt) has made venturing on to the small, peaty, flammable island illegal. Now Überstadt's territory is Rosewood "...which is my family's residential property."
Legislation is made through Parliament which is a direct body. Überstadt is a direct democracy. All 5 citizens participate, Four of which live at Rosewood.
